Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about CLPA tools, materials, compatibility, shipping and warranty. If your question isn't here, email sales@clpa.au — we usually reply within one business day Brisbane time.

Heat Press & T-Shirt Rulers

Are CLPA T-Shirt Rulers heat-safe?
Three of our T-Shirt Rulers are heat-safe to 320°F: PPG-4 (Full Shirt), PPG-5 (Neck and Chest) and PPG-6 (Pocket and Sleeve). They're laser-cut from polycarbonate so you can leave the ruler on the press while you position, press, check and adjust. PPG-1, PPG-2 and PPG-3 are clear PETG and need to be removed before heat — they're for marking placement, not pressing through.
Will it work with HTV, DTF, sublimation and embroidery?
Yes — all six T-Shirt Rulers work for HTV vinyl, DTF transfers, sublimation, screen print transfers and embroidery placement. They're alignment tools, not press-through transfer films, so they're compatible with whatever decoration method you already use.
Which neckline references are built in?
Adult round neck, V-neck, youth and infant. The 1" grid overlay handles any graphic size or position from neckline to hem on shirts up to XXL.
Will it work with my heat press brand?
Yes — the rulers are heat press brand agnostic. They've been used with Cricut, HPN, Stahls, Hotronix, Geo Knight, and every other consumer and commercial heat press we know of. The 1" grid is universal.
Are CLPA rulers Made in Australia?
Yes, every CLPA tool is designed and manufactured on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia. Stock is held in Australia, the USA and the UK for fast worldwide delivery.

Pipe Wrap, Coping Wing & Corner Wing

How do I choose the right Pipe Wrap size?
Pipe Wraps are sized by maximum pipe outer diameter: 6", 11", 15", 20" or 24". Pick the one that's bigger than the largest pipe you'll mark — a larger wrap will still work on smaller pipe.
What's the difference between a Coping Wing and a Corner Wing?
Coping Wings scribe saddle-cut profiles where one pipe meets another at 22.5°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 67.5° or 90°. Corner Wings scribe 2-way, 3-way and 4-way 90° corner-join profiles for cube and box structures. Coping = T-joints; Corner = 90° corner joints.
Which Coping Wing fits my pipe?
Coping Wings are sized by inner diameter (ID) of the branching pipe. We make them in 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2", 2", 2-1/2", 3", 3-1/2" and 4" ID, plus master OD wings up to 10". Match the wing to the pipe being coped (the smaller one cutting into the larger).
What material are the welding tools made from?
Pipe Wraps, Coping Wings and Corner Wings are all 0.4mm clear polycarbonate. Polycarbonate is heat-resistant, UV-stable, and flexible enough to wrap tightly around pipe without slipping. The clear material lets you see your scribed line through the template.
Will it survive welding heat?
The wing is for marking, not welding. You scribe the cut line through the template, remove the template, then cut and weld. The polycarbonate is heat-resistant for storage and incidental contact but isn't designed for direct flame or arc heat.

Quilting Templates & Fibonacci Stencils

Are CLPA quilting templates compatible with rotary cutters?
Yes — all quilting templates are clear PETG, 1.6mm (1/16") thick, with see-through markings for fussy cutting. Use with a rotary cutter or scissors for English paper piecing, patchwork and applique.
What is the Fibonacci stencil set for?
Fibonacci stencils apply the golden ratio to art, drafting, quilting and design. Each stencil contains six concentric shapes scaled to the Fibonacci sequence (1, 1.618, 2.618, 4.236...). Artists use them for naturally-proportioned compositions; quilters use them for proportional block design.
Can I use the templates for resin or sublimation?
Yes for the Craft Shape blanks (Circles, Squares, Hexagons, Triangles, Ovals, Stars, Pentagons) — those are clear PETG specifically for resin, sublimation, painting and laser engraving. The shaped templates and stencils are for marking, not as substrates for finishing.

Photographic & Smartphone Viewfinders

How does a photographic viewfinder work?
Hold the credit-card-sized viewfinder up to your eye to frame and compose subjects before committing to a shot or sketch. Each card has a different composition grid (Rule of Thirds, Fibonacci Spiral, Golden Triangle, etc.) printed on clear polycarbonate.
Which iPhone viewer fits my phone?
PV-I-Small (iOS 18) or PV-I-Small 28 (iOS 26) for iPhone 11/12/13/14/15/16 and the Pro variants — 6.1" to 6.3" screens. PV-I-Large (iOS 18) or PV-I-Large 28 (iOS 26) for iPhone 12-16 Pro Max and 14/15 Plus — 6.7" to 6.9" screens. Pick the one that matches your iOS version because the camera shooting area changed between iOS 18 and iOS 26.
Do I need an app for the smartphone composition viewer?
No. The smartphone composition viewer is a physical overlay placed directly over your phone screen. It works with your existing camera app, any shooting mode and any third-party camera app — no downloads, no settings, no subscription.
Can I use the smartphone viewer with a phone case?
Most thin cases work fine — the attachment bands are stretchy and the overlay sits on the screen surface. Bulky rugged cases or pop sockets may need to be removed.
